Feisty old Roy Burrows, 93 and his wife, Kelly 89, got divorced after 41 years of marriage-- and stubborn Roy was so riled up he went to jail rather then give her a dime. After two hours in a Shawnee Okla., slammer, the cantankerous old coot changed his mind and forked over 32,968 about half of their savings account. The elderly couple decided to call it quits because "they just didn't get along anymore," said the lawyer Virginia Henson, who repesented Roy in the divorce. " He said she nagged him a lot and s he said he was impossible to live with," said attorney Henson. "There was no problem with the divorce until a judge ordered Roy to give her half of his 65,000 savings account," she said. Angery Roy Voved to go to jail rather then pay her the 32,968. " Roy claimed she had been stashing her monthly Social Security checks in a secret bank account while he paid all the bills" said Mrs. Henson. "If there was a secret bank account we never found it," she said. A court earlier had found Roy in contemp for failling to pay the 32,968 judgment. As Judge Milton Craig was setting a sentencing date for the contempt charge, he gave Roy one more chance to turn over the money. When Roy refused b alliffs escorted him to jail. He was released after two hours. "He's a man with strong convietions" said attorney Henson. "It turned out to be a family feud with his children backing him." Roy and Kelly had no children together, but each had kids by previous marriages, she said.
